This is going to be an AMAZING year, and I am over-the-top excited!  Even with 21 years of teaching behind me, my enthusiasm for the classroom has never lessened, only grown!  But if I am going to have the privilege of spending so much time with your student, it is only fair you get to know a little about me!

​

 

I was born & raised in the Texas panhandle in the little town of Dumas.  From the time I was 4 years old, I knew I wanted to be a teacher; teaching has been a life-long calling for me.  After high school, I came to San Angelo to go to college, and I fell so in love with it that I have chosen to stay here for 26 years now.  Since I came here, my life has changed in so many wonderful ways!  I met my husband, have 4 children (ages 12, 10, 9, and (almost) 6), and get to work in the best school around!

I have two goals this year.  First, I want your student, and all students, to realize that WORDS MATTER because they have shaped our history and society, so in my class we read history-changing literature.  More importantly, though, every individual has the opportunity to shape the world with words, so our class will learn to use our words to give our hopes and beliefs a voice.

My second goal is to help your students develop the skills needed to achieve any life goals by learning leadership skills, growth mindset, and communication skills.

​

As a parent, I know you want the best for your child, want to support your child, and want to know what happens in our classroom, so I will send quarterly emails to parents with a class newsletter, share announcements on Remind101 and ClassTag, and post all daily lessons on Schoology.  I hope this allows you to have an opportunity to be a part of our classroom
